SETH & ASHE MEYERS for MAISONETTE

As an expecting father, I had a blast shooting Seth Meyers and his son Ashe for a fun Father’s Day shoot with Maisonette. First, let me say that Seth did a great job in front of the camera – no surprises there. But I have to also say that Ashe (and Frisbee the dog) were 100% amazing for the entire shoot. Ashe didn’t even take a bathroom break (or at least none that we know of). Read the full story HERE. Thanks to Jessica and Phoebe at Maisonette

FORBES Japan Editorial Cover Story

I had the pleasure of working with Forbes Japan on their December 2016 cover story about Yancey Strickler at Kickstarter. We shot Yancey at Kickerstarter’s stunning headquarters in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Yancey was great to work and we were given a gorgeous day to shoot.

BBOY BEHIND THE SCENES

In June, I traveled to Korea to see a good friend open his exhibition (Chong Gon Byun). While I was in Seoul, I connected with an amazing group of BBoy dancers called Last4One. Total bunch of characters with amazing skills. These guys are incredibly graceful yet very powerful. I loved finding out that Last4One performed for Hillary Clinton during a recent visit to Korea. Born out of NYC in the 70s with Black and Puerto Rican youths, B-boying is wildly popular in South Korea.

Here is a behind-the-scenes video that we shot on an iPhone

SPRING CAPTION CONTEST

This is our second open contest for BEST SLOGAN / CAPTION. If you forgot our first one, you can check it out here.

CONTEST: If this image below was an ad, what slogan might you see? Or, if this were a New Yorker cartoon, what caption might you read? It’s open to interpretation. Do you see a product being sold? A service? The concept here is intentionally a bit open-ended, so anything goes. To have your entry considered, please respond in the comments section below. Make sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you win. Comments will be accepted through Friday, June 7th at 12pm.

PRIZE: Winner will receive a free copy of my book The Artists of The Invisible Dog. Check out The Bookstore for more info on this book.

CLYDE FRAZIER // Swishin’ & Dishin’

Thrilled to share the images from my ESPN/LEVI’S shoot with Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier.  What a character and overall class act. I spent the day shooting stills of Clyde at his restaurant CLYDE’S WINE AND DINE on 10th Ave. Known for his old school flare, Clyde didn’t disappoint with his calf skin suits and pink cowboy boots and wild shirts.
Check out some of the images in the April ESPN magazine. ESPN CreativeWorks put together a great commercial spot, check it out below.

ESPN CreativeWorks created this great collaboration with LEVI’S and ESPN. Russell Westbrook, an NBA star who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, was also filmed for this spot. He represents the new school style. Enjoy.

WILLIAM RAST

Shot another great project with the team over at Sequential Brands Group.  To get an inside look at the behind the scenes, check out the sizzle reel below by Billy Peña.

Photographer: Malcolm Brown
Post-production: Cyan Jack
Makeup: Hiroko Takada
Hair: Damon Alfonzo
Assistants: Justin Bordeaux, Simon Courchel
Talent: Sarah, Luke

We shot in the 3rd floor gallery space of The Invisible Dog because we liked the raw loft-life look of the aged wooden floors, the large windows, the steel balconies and the massive industrial elevator big enough for a tank.

PS 261 // HERITAGE DAY

Recently, I was invited to visit with Mrs. Scarborough’s class for Heritage Day. I had the opportunity to photograph each student and talk with them a bit about photography. It was great to see such a mix of cultural ethnicities. Following my visit, the kids wrote me thank you notes. Check out a few below – gotta love these kids!
